The Preacher and the Thin Paint
The small-town preacher noticed his church needed a new coat of paint.
At the next board meeting, he brought the need before the members, who decided to hire old Tom, a local painter who had submitted an estimate.
Well, old Tom decided he was going to make some money on this job and thinned the paint way too much and then gave it a little more for good measure. He worked hard and got the entire church painted in one day, but as he was loading his ladder in the truck, it started to sprinkle rain. As he drove away, it started to rain harder, and a few blocks down the street, it became a real downpour. The old painter figured he'd better go back and have a look. When he got back to the church, sure enough, the rain was washing his hard work off the building. Out of frustration, he, while raising his hands, said, "Lord, what am I going to do now?" A voice from above said, "Thomas, Thomas, repaint and thin no more."
