Sainsbury's Staff Get Tesco Prizes

Work

Sainsbury's staff who won a company raffle were astonished to receive Tesco hampers as prizes.

Fourteen workers won the runners-up prizes of boxes stuffed with Tesco Christmas pudding, tinned fruit, wine and cakes.

One Sainsbury employee at the depot in Buntingford, Hertfordshire, called the Tesco prizes 'farcical'.

But a Sainsbury's spokeswoman insisted the Tesco hampers were meant as booby prizes, reports The Sun.

She said: "Thousands of pounds worth of prizes were given away, including holiday vouchers and hundreds of pounds of electrical goods. The hampers were consolation prizes and simply a bit of fun at Christmas."

A delighted Tesco spokeswoman said: "We have known for some time Sainsbury customers come to Tesco for quality and low prices. It shouldn't be a surprise their staff are now following."
