Milkman's Embarrassing Bank Encounter
I've had some embarrassing moments, but this one takes the cake!
After my son was born, I took a leave of absence from my job as a bank teller. Every morning, around 8:00 AM, the milkman would come and deliver milk as ordered, and we would chat for a minute.
At that time of the morning, I was always still in my pajamas and housecoat and sometimes hardly had time to comb my hair before I saw him.
Anyway, in time my maternity leave was up, and I returned to work. One Friday afternoon as I was serving customers, I looked up to see the milkman. I smiled at him, but he didn't seem to recognize me at all. So, I said, "Hi. How are you doing?"
He replied, "Fine. Thank you," but I knew he didn't remember me. I knew he would remember me from our many short chats if only I could remind him. So, in a crowded bank I said to him, "You are awfully quiet today. I guess you don't recognize me with clothes on!"
His face went red, and I heard snickers from the crowd in the bank, as I suddenly realized what I'd said.
